Horse stories

This is what
progress looks like.

Each horse came in at a different place. These stories show the work from there.

Foundation training

Dallas

Dallas came to Piper with gaps in his basic handling and riding. Rather than treating each issue separately, Piper started on the ground and established the foundation. He went home quiet, rideable, and mannerly.

Starting point

Current progress
Quiet, rideable, and mannerly

Started as a filly

Famously Fabulous

Piper started Famously Fabulous herself. Every skill she has today was added to the foundation Piper established from the beginning.

Starting point
Started from the first ride
Current progress
A complete start, still in the barn

AQHA Young Horse Development · 2025

Flying V Turquoise

Piper began working with Flying V Turquoise—known as Bougie—as a weanling through the AQHA Ranching Heritage Young Horse Development Program. They placed sixth nationally, and the training continues.

Starting point
Weanling donated by KT Cattle
Current progress
Development is ongoing

Off-track Thoroughbred

Harley

Harley came to Piper after the track. Instead of chasing individual issues under saddle, she began on the ground and applied her foundation-first approach. He now walks, trots, and canters on a loose rein with someone else in the saddle.

Starting point
Needed to start from the ground
Current progress
Walk, trot, and canter on a loose rein
